‘Falling Water’ – Two staircase windows

(1.1m x 1.4m and 0.5m x 1.0m) 2017

These leaded windows were commissioned by an enthusiastic photographer with an interest in science and art, who felt that an abstract window design in textured glass of subdued colours would most interestingly transmit the beautiful scenery surrounding his art deco style home, near Whitby.

The windows were strongly inspired by falling water. I tried to capture this movement using textured, clear and opalescent glasses. The appearance of the windows changes as the lighting alters through the day, with the glass absorbing and projecting gentle colours in ever-changing patterns.
